Greetings, folks! I'm fairly new to sci.electronics (this is my first post), but I suspect this has come up before. Where can I find a schematic for a no-frills but reliable UPS that will keep a Macintosh & hard-drive alive 30 minutes or more during our winter-storm power failures? Most of the designs I've considered are based on a 12 volt car battery (I have one handy), but any good plan would be welcome. On a related note, I understand that there was a long-running discussion here (some months back) about the best method of providing battery power to a (non-portable) computer while living _sans powergrid_. What was the most practical suggestion offered? I'll be happy to summarize responses if you send them by E-mail. On the other hand, if it's just a reference (i.e., to a magazine article, etc, you might as well post, since lots of readers are probably wondering, too. Thanks in advance!! scotty theron@reed.UUCP -- theron@reed.UUCP theron@reed.BITNET
