[sci.electronics] Touchplate Relays

royf@attctc.Dallas.TX.US (Roy Frederick) (01/15/90)

I am looking for a source for "Touchplate Relays". These are
cylindrical latching relays designed to mount on the side
of a wiring box such that the 115V side is in the box and the
24V side is outside. Spring loaded rocker switches apply momentary
power to switch the relay on or off. A pilot output from the relay
allows the status to be monitored - usually by a pilot lamp at the
switch. The system was never very popular for home use - probably
because it was quite expensive to install after the house was built.
I know that it is still used - I have seen them in hospital rooms.
No one at the electrical supply houses seem to have any idea what
I am talking about!

Any help would be appreciated (especially a mail order source).
