I still say that by using solid-state lasers (they DO exist) that produces the correct wavelengths, and by exciting it (or several of them in tandem, I suppose) in random pulses, you can effectively affect the detector's ability to find it's own signal. And this can be done by LED's as well, if the LED's output can match that of the laser (although I wonder how much the coherence of laser light would compare with the incoherence of LED's output). I like the diffraction grating idea, by the way... Joseph
