Hi! Does anyone out there know of any single-chip digitized sound generation systems? Perhaps a chip (or chip set) that contains memory, counters, and a D/A converter such that you can just amplify the output, pulse a control pin, and it'll play whatever sound it's got stored? Or should I just go and design the gating logic and hook it up to off-the-shelf memory and a D/A converter? Wondering, --Gub (Glen Daniels, gub@ftp.com) "If 'con' is the opposite of 'pro', what's the opposite of 'progress'?"

Don't build this from scratch!! I started to and then I met the CODEC. CODEC's are designed just to COde and DECode audio to digital (for ISDN). If you want a chip with memory also, keep looking. I saw a complete module in an IC Masters catalog - said it was for toys, etc. which needed audio record and playback. Audio record/playback is a handy thing to have around. I can't wait to get my modules up. Good luck. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kyler Laird I'm the NRA ky@en.ecn.purdue.edu
