Is there anyone out there who knows more about these groups?? I have all of their albums but I am interested in finding out more about them and their backgrounds, etc. Do you know of any articles in the music magazines about any of these groups? If you want you could mail all responses to me or leave them on the net. I really do enjoy their music and maybe some other people are interested out there in net.music-land. Thank you in advance. It seems that New Order does not mention any of their personnel on any of their albums, but I heard from a friend that they were formed in 1981 or late 1980 by the surviving members of Joy Division after their lead singer (Ian Curtis was his name, I think) committed suicide. I would be grateful if anybody could confirm or deny this claim, or provide more information. I haven't heard any Joy Division, but I've heard that their music is very depressing and nowhere near as upbeat as most of New Order's stuff. Jeff Richardson DCIEM, Toronto

New Order is indeed members of Joy Division. The group formed after Ian Curtis commited suicide (It was inevitable). Joy Division was one of the most depressing bands I have ever heard. The songs have hooks and neat little riffs, but the vocals make you want to just stop doing anything, even breathing. Great stuff to listen to when you need to calm down. David
