Some years ago, I bought some thermistor inserts that you place in the socket of a standard incandescent lightbulb to reduce the turn-on shock to the filament. They worked great. When you turned on the switch, the bulb came up to the full (slightly reduced) brightness in under a second. Now I have moved to a new house that has horrible electrical service, with several blink-outs every month. I am always buying new bulbs. Then I remembered the inserts I used before and tried to buy some more, however, all that I can find these days are the rectifier type. Does anyone know where the thermistor type are sold these days? -- Henry Melton ...!cs.utexas.edu!ut-emx!hutto!henry 1-512-8463241 Rt.1 Box 274E Hutto,TX 78634
