Anyone know off hand to what extent "smart" cards (the variety with two-way interaction, e.g., keyboards and displays) used for identification are covered by comprehensive patents? That is, does anything that fits in your pocket, has a keyboard and display, and serves some authentication purpose already require a license to produce? Dan Lanciani ddl@harvard.*
