[sci.electronics] Problem w/ Carver MXR130

kentfo@polari.UUCP (Kent Forschmiedt) (03/02/90)

A friend has a problem with a Carver MXR130 receiver that the Carver
techs have been unable to reproduce in their shop, but occurs consistently
in my friend's home.

When the device is turned on, it works, but the power supply makes a
"hiccup sound". After running for a few minutes, it blows the 7 amp
main fuse.  It behaves this way regardless of what it is connected to;
with headphones or speakers connected, any inputs or none. He
measured the line voltage at 118V, but has not determined whether
there is any kind of noise in the power.

As mentioned above, Carver's people could not reproduce the problem, nor
could they give a clue about how to locate the source of the problem.

Has anybody out there experienced this kind of thing? Have you solved
it?  etc...

Please send email, not followups. If I learn anything interesting, I will
summarize and post.  Thank you.
