[sci.electronics] Biometal

BILLW@MATHOM.CISCO.COM (William Westfield) (03/06/90)

I have addresses/etc for the BioMetal people at home. The most memorable
aspect of the stuff is that it is very expensive - something like $40/meter,
and more for little pieces and/or kits that do something.

However, here in my office, I have a brochure from "dynalloy, Inc" for
their "flexinol" wire, which is supposed to be just like biometal,
except cheaper and more efficient. It comes in a variety of diameters
and transition temperatures, and sells for $10/meter in 1-10 meter
lots. If you order more than 10 meters, it goes down to $7.50/m.
Sample kits: 4 3" pieces, some other stuff: $19.95, 4 1m pieces, plus
four assembled devices, plus some other stuff $99.
