Really?  Better tell that to Rogers Cable.  The main distribution lines in
Vancouver are almost all fibre-optic now.  (They did most of the installation
last winter.)  We don't have it into homes yet, but I would guess that that's
just a matter of replacing the neighbourhood feed from the trunk line.
  Of course, Canada has always been a few years ahead of the States in cable
communications technology.  <Grin.>
