[followups to news.groups. crossposted to s.e r.h-r for technical reasons, r.r.s because of satellite discussions] After the disaster during the first week, voting has proceeded smoothly, but at a pace which will not result in passage of the new group. The current count is 19% no, 81% yes, with 36 votes received. If you want this group to succeed, please vote for it, if you haven't already. CHARTER: REC.ARTS.TV.CABLE This group is for discussions pertaining in general to cable television, and satellite television. Broadcast only issues should go to rec.arts.tv. More specifically, discussions of technical, regulatory, programming, and/or customer service/cost/quality issues are welcome. Technical discussions of cable programming technology are welcome, which is somewhat at odds to its placement in "rec," but this is proposed simply because of the infeasability of placing the group elsewhere. The original name rec.arts.tv.catv was objected to by several because of the confusion over the designation "catv" meaning community access TV instead of community antenna TV. Several have objected to placing the group in rec.arts, but there have been no alternative suggestions. The newsgroups line would read: rec.arts.tv.cable Discussion about cable and satellite television This newsgroup would not be moderated. It distribution would be world-wide.
