[sci.electronics] remote temperature sensing

Sounds like a bolometer to me. They're used for remote temperature sensing
in lots of places. I came across them in hot axle detectors for railroad
safety devices: you watch the axles as it passes the gadget and sound an alarm
if one or more are excessively hot.
