[sci.electronics] Adding pre-amp out/amp in ports to receiver

DAVISM@kcgl1.eng.ohio-state.edu (Michael T. Davis) (06/27/90)

I have a Yamaha RX-500U receiver (purchased 9/87) that I would like to
add pre-amp out/amp in jacks to. As I don't have the schematics or any
testing equipment, I'm at a bit of a loss. I have pulled the cover off to
reveal what appears to be the obvious (to me anyway) place to add these jacks.
Connected to the volume control are two sets of wires, of three separate lines
each. Each one has a left/right pair along with ground; one is marked input
and the other output (but w.r.t. what I'm not sure, although I suspect the
volume control; that is, input to volume and output from it). If anyone could
help me out here, I'd really appreciate it. While, as I mentioned, I don't own
any testing equipment, I do have access to some, so if someone could recommend
a method to go about this via examining line levels and such, I could manage
that. Please reply via e-mail.

							Thanks,
							 Mike
