        Can anybody give me a quick pinout of the 8646? Or should I go an call
up NEC and get the second volume of their micro computer data.. Already have
the first volume, and its not in there..

Doesn't appear to be part of the 8048 family..

Are you sure about the part number?  I looked up in my NEC Product
Selection Guide, and couldn't locate it.
