I purchased a PXL 2000 Video Camcorder, a toy video camera that records on audio tapes. My intent is to use its CCD sensor for astronomical purposes. (A quick-and-dirty experiment at the eyepiece of my 8" succeeded in recording images of lunar craters.) Does anyone out there have a schematic for this device, or any other information about its electronics?

(I thought I had mailed this to you already)- I guess it got lost or maybe it wasn't you... About a year ago I used the PXL as an image sensor for my Undergrad thesis. Some people on sci.electronics were responsible for me finding that image sensor and using it. (thanks) I later distributed a portion of my thesis describing how to interface digitally to its interior. I still have that file and will mail it to anyone interested. The catch: If you write any neat software that does pattern recognition or anything like that- I'd like to hear about it. My file describes how to interface it to an IBM PC bus, is in DOS text format and tarred, compressed and then uuencoded. If anybody wants it- I will receive mail until tuesday morning and then either mail it to everybody or post it if there's sufficient interest. -- "It was very stupid of you to have gotten yourself lured into this trap" Big Boy (from Dick Tracy) jmn@united.berkeley.edu, or jmn@power.berkeley.edu
