I saw David Bowie at the Tacoma Dome last Thursday and I would just like to say that even if he does do a lousy version of "China Girl", he's still one of the best. As a long time fan, I was happy to hear songs from every DB album I have ever heard. The band was excellent (both Earl Slick and Carlos Alomar on guitars), the sound was great (up front; in the back of the place it sucked really bad), and Bowie was in top form. I think Bowie has a lot of feeling for his old fans. He didn't play only hits, and his latest piece of drivel ("Let's Dance") was done very soon into the show. As for the crowd, they were just like any other crowd that finally discover's a great performer or band. "Oh wow. David Bowie. I just LOVE "Let's Dance"! I saw so many play-punks I felt like killing. Well, f*ck 'em all. I was a punk dressing strange back in '77, when being a punk meant that you were strange. Now I'm bald and fat and I wore a sport coat and a sport shirt and paid for my ticket out of my pocket change. So while all those jerks were dancing to the "new wave, man", I was thinking about the fact that I've got lots of money. And no matter what you think, this is America, and money does buy happiness! Anyway, the Dead Kennedy's write better songs than Bowie anymore. Think I'll shave my head and start a new band. Maybe I'll reform the Dave Hitler Band and become a star (apologies to all you Hitler-haters). David
