[sci.electronics] D/A Converter Sources

steve@doc.ksu.ksu.edu (Steve Schallehn) (07/20/90)

A question that goes along with this discussion is the source of such
audio A/D chips. What are some manufactures, data widths, ect.
Are some A/D's specialized for audio. I am interested in playing
with digital sounds, but have no knowledge of the A/D chips.

Check out the old Radio Shack they have a very neat little one
called TLC548 it's very flexible. The only draw back with this chip is
that it dumps out the data serialy, but you can add a 8-bit register and
change all that.It can sample a signal at 40Khz per sec,and comes with
an internal clock,sample and hold,8-bit A/D converter,data register,and
control logic all in one package.I have had no problems with this little
beast.

I have no connections with the Rat Shack what so ever.
