[sci.electronics] Geiger counters/tubes, ion chambers, isotopes etc wanted

Jeff.Miller@samba.acs.unc.edu (BBS Account) (07/24/90)

I find these things at swap meets and surplus stores occasionally and find them
fascinating.

I want GM tubes, ion chambers, proportional counter tubes, solid-state
detectors, dosimeters, maybe PM tubes and scintillators, and instruments based
on these, even if they don't work or are old. I like sensitive instruments,
ones that can measure background radiation, but I'll consider anything.

I have a 1 ug source of radium and a few found-things sources, but I want
something hotter to use with the less sensitive ion chambers. Something
calibrated would be much preffered, maybe an old cobalt source. 25 mR/h at 1
foot sounds reasonable.

Thank you.
