Greetings. I picked up about 15 of the reciever modules (for $1.99 total) for Lazer Tag - a "craze" of a few years back. Now, anyone know what the "gun" consisted of and possibly have any _cheap_ sources for them? Also, what signal does a module have to recieve to activate? Is it similar to a remote? (ie. carrier) Thank you. P.S. I have a feeling this was "beaten to death" but I was still in high-school.... :-) -- _______________________________________________________________________________ "The Force will be with you, always." I reverse engineered the Lazer-Tag pistol into a fairly complete
schematic. It took me a helluvalong time and then I lost it... :-(
My goal was to up the power, which I succeeded in doing. The gun pulses
an IR LED at about 1A; I replaced the LED with a higher power device and
added another gain stage (a nice VMOS xistor) to pulse it at 3A. All I
remember at this point of the signal is that the pulse was 3.2uS long. I
forget whether that was the on-time or the period, and what the duty cycle
was... sorry! And I have a vague memory that the 3.2uS signal was modulated
with a lower-frequency signal. Also, the signal itself lasted for some
fairly brief period of time each time the trigger was pulled.
There is also a Lazer-Tag rifle that was similar but autorepeated
(which was an easy mod to the pistol :-)
Hope this is some help.
