[sci.electronics] Night Scopes

sr2s+@andrew.cmu.edu (Seth Malcolm Redmore) (08/11/90)

Hello y'all...

I'm very interested in night scopes, and would appreciate any
pointers toward schematics, or if anybody has used equipment ( I don't have
the $$$ for new equip!) even 1st generation image intensification tubes, or
6032 IR tubes. I would like to make my own scopes, and try various combinations. So, netters, if anybody has a half done project, or hamfest remnants
(including HV, low amp supplies) Send me a price...
Thanks a bunch for all tips,
Seth Redmore

Greetings. I saw something similar in a good book
(with a silly cover and title) "How to make your
own laser, [can't remember the rest]"

It's thick, about 300 pages, and has several
projects in it. One of them I think, has a
plans to build a nigh-vision aid. It consisted
of a flyback, oscilator, voltage multiplier,
IR tube (6032), and a nice and to the point
message that elderly people with pacemakers should
not touch it! ;-) I believe it has addresses of
companies that manufacture parts. It also included
a "specs" sheet for the IR tube (If I remember
	correctly, that is...)

By the way, it has some other "neat" projects like
lasers and a 30Watt CO2 laser that you can build
by yourself (need a HeNe for setup)...

Take care and have fun (in that order :-)

Greetings. I forgot to mention that it also has
a project that allows you to listen to ultrasound
As I remember, someone wanted to lower sounds by
some value... I think that should help.

	Take care.

Yeah,
I xeroxed some stuff out of that book. If you can get ahold of laser
tubes, you can make some pretty powerful stuff. I'm currently making the
project in there "Phasor Shockwave Pistol". Its not as good as they say
it is, but it is really interesting with the ultrasonics and all. It's a
good book, i'll have to stop xeroxing stuff out of it and actually buy
it. Later!
