[sci.electronics] C cross development tools for MC68HC11

mark@sickkids.UUCP (Mark Bartelt) (08/15/90)

Hi again! A couple weeks ago I posted a request for recommendations on
C cross development systems for the Hitachi HD64180 family. Thanks to
all of you who responded. (I'd be happy to send a summary of the replies
to anyone who asks.)

Now, I find myself having to ask the same question again, this time about
the Motorola MC68HC11 microprocessor. The two companies that have been
suggested thus far are Avocet and Archimedes. Does anyone out there who
has used either or both of these have anything good (or bad) to say about
them? Are there others I should know about?

As usual, thanks in advance.

There is a PD assembler with source available from the motorola BBS.
I am getting ready to use it for some hobby projects. I could
probably pass it on to anyone who asks for it.

I have used Avocet products in the past and been satisfied. Not
pleased, I didn't like the way they worked but I don't recall anything
really *wrong*. I think it was a drain bamaged command interface that
has probably been fixed up by now.
