[sci.electronics] fooling radar detectors: physics

one sure way of evading police radar, which of course operates on the doppler
principle, is to determine the exact bandwidth that is used. If delta lambda
over lambda (the bandwidth divided by the wavelength) is small then one could
implement a stealth-like paint. the thickness of the paint would need to be a
Quarter of a wavelength, by which the incident and reflecting wave would
interfere destructively. This is valid because the change in the wavelength due
to the car's movement is minimized because of the extremely large but finite
speed of light.
