[sci.electronics] Looking for industrial PCB software

deffer@uni2a.unige.ch (Eric Defferard) (09/01/90)

Hi,

A friend of mine is looking for PCB software references. Being not very
aware of the matter, I'll try to transcribe what he told me the best I
can.

The products should be for industrial usage having characteristics such
as very high component and line density and fine line drawing, as well as
very good autorouting capabilities. He has no system plateform requirements.

The PCB software he's actually using is Secmai's S-PCB on an Apollo. Secmai
is a french company which went out of business last year. Their product, as
I've been told, is one of the best on the market. The company sunk because
of terrible marketing. My friend rates in his terms of overall performance
and functionality:

	1st) Secmai's S-PCB (100 %)
	2nd) Valid (60%)
	3rd) Mentor (40%)

If you know, use, sell any PCB software, please send some e-mail refs
directly to me. As usual, if there's any interest, I'll summarize on the net
in a month, once back from vacation.
