[sci.electronics] Info on LAN elec. chars. wanted

I'm looking for information on the electrical characteristics
of various LAN protocols.  Can anyone provide the signal levels
for 
Token ring
Ethernet
AppleTalk
FDDI
?

I'm working with a project that, given some unknown wires, will tell
me what type of LAN is attached to those wires (assuming that you
can't see what's "behind the covers" -- like an ethernet cable, or
twisted pair).
