I have a old (not that old) but almost functioning card for a product, that has a dead signetics chip. The number(s) on the chip are... 2650 AI CT429 IC Signetics (symbol) 9905. In my IC Master (1988) under Signetics they have the number SCN2650AC and 2650AI (no other prefixes or suffexes). They are both listed seperatedly, but both as CPU products. From several signetics dealers, they have no record of ANY signetics productcs without a prefix, and for the SCN2650AC they have an additional 1N40 or 2N40. Signetics says this is the case style plastic or ceramic, 40DIP. Looking at the (partial) schematic for the board, all this thing is used for is as a UART for the tape drive unit. Needless to say, signetics has been lass than helpful in my quest for like 2 or 3 of these, and I'm not even sure if they didn;t possibly make 2 things with similiar part numbers, 1 cpu & 1 uart. OR even, IF there is a new product I can plug in and replace the defective one with. Lastly, does anybody have any of these, or know a source of stock for a couple of these. Any help would be appreciated. al -- Al. Michielsen, Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, Syracuse University InterNet: amichiel@rodan.acs.syr.edu amichiel@sunrise.acs.syr.edu Bitnet: AMICHIEL@SUNRISE
