[sci.electronics] Hi-capacity AAA nicads?

schuster@cup.portal.com (Michael Alan Schuster) (10/09/90)

"AA" penlight size nicads have gone from 450 mAh to 700, and there are
even 750's available at high prices. What about AAA's? I still have
devices that use them, but the available AAA nicads are of such low
capacity (180 mAh) that one wonders whether it's worth bothering.
If they can cram more into the same AA cell, it must be possible with an AAA.
Anyone know of a source of higher-capacity AAA cells?

Where can I buy the high capacity "AA" NiCd batteries. Many thanks!

I was hoping nobody would ask that :-) Couldn't you answer =my= question?

Anyway, there's a guy who shows up at the Ken Gordon computer flea markets
in the Northeast (mainly NJ) that has all different sizes of Panasonic OEM
(unmarked) AA nicads. The vinyl sleeves are color-coded; if I remember
correctly:
	white = 500 mAh
       orange = 550 mAh
        blue  = 600 mAh
       brown  = 700 mAh

I never got a card from the guy, so I don't know who he is ... next show I'll
ask if he does mail order.

750 mAh nicads are marketed under the trade name "EXCELL" and are produced
by a company called Argraph in NJ somewhere. Don't bother looking them up;
they donot do direct retail sales. Their products are found exclusively in
photo specialty shops. A pair of 750's goes for some ridiculous price like $20.
So I go for the flea-market 700's at $2.50 a throw.
