[sci.electronics] LASER dealers-- here is some good info/addresses

brodie@fps.mcw.edu (10/18/90)

I promised this a while ago.... The following is my list of
Laser (and other laser-related junk) suppliers. Of all of the ones
listed, I have only ever ordered from Meredeth, but that was simply
because they were the only company I knew of at the time. I have
no financial interest in any of this (except of course, to save money
by finding dealers like these..)

Meredith Instruments
P.O. Box 1724
Glendale, AZ. 85301 Many HeNe heads/power supplies, some complete
units. Lots of optical stuff (old scanners,
infrared goggles, optics, laser diodes, etc.)
                       [most equipment is "surplus"]

LaserSharp
2417 Poplar Drive
San Jose, CA 95122 HeNe surplus, tubes, power supplies. My last
catalog from them is dated 1987. I do not know
if they are still in business.

M.J. Neal Company
6672 Mallard Court
Orient, Ohio 43146 Pretty much the same as Meredith, but a little
smaller company (judging from the size of their
                       catalog)

LASER Resale, Inc.
54 Balcom Road
Sudbury, MA 01776 This is my favorite, but you also gotta have $$$.
Laser Resale is just that-- they are a "middle man"
for people interested in selling their lasers and/or
purchasing them. (most people selling them are looking
to replace their equipment with something else more
powerful.) Unlike the above 3 companies, Laser Resale
deals with ALL kinds of lasers, ranging from cheap
used HeNe lasers to high-powered multi-color gas
lasers costing hundreds of thousands of dollars. You
will also find the odd complete set of lasershow
equipment, etc. Their "catalog" is published
                       monthly.

Well, that's all I have, I hope this helps. I haven't ordered lasers for
QUITE some time, but these sources should get you started. In addition,
Edmund Scientific is coming out with a REAL nice laser pointer. ABout
the size of a Penlight, about 2mW, and runs for HOURS on penlight
batteries. $199. (when I last checked, they did not have them in stock
yet).
