[sci.electronics] DOS-Based Circuit Design / Simulation

goldstein@arecibo.aero.org (Fogbound Child) (10/19/90)

Forgive me if this has been discussed before.

I'm looking for something that I can run on my PC that will serve as a
graphics based digital circuit designer.
Ideally, it would be public domain, support some "universal" output format
(such as GIF, Postscript, or even Epson FX dot graphics), and perhaps even
run simulations. It should behave like a word-processor for circuits, so
that I can create neat, organized circuit diagrams. If I move, for example,
a flip-flop from one side of the diagram to the other, it should move the
connecting wires along with it.

I have seen two or three programs on SIMTEL, but really didn't find what I
was looking for.
I was loaned an evaluation version of a program called MICRO-LOGIC II, but
it seems that it needed more that 640k of RAM to run. I also don't think I
could afford to buy the real version of the software (MICRO-LOGIC has a lot
of nice features, according to the documentation, like simulations,
delay calculations, fan-out control, etc).

Please Email me directly if you know of any good package (whether it be
commercial or shareware or freeware) and describe its availability (stores,
FTP, etc). I will summarize to the net, as I don't doubt there are others
who may be interested.

Thank you muchly!
