[sci.electronics] ultrasonic rangefinder

rrw@naucse.cse.nau.edu (Robert Wier) (10/22/90)

Many thanks to those who responded on my query on the
poloroid ultrasonic distance measuring unit. Several
suggested that I check out the units being sold at
hardware stores for < $20, which I intend to do.

I note also that in the current Circuit Cellar INK,
they have a "sonar ranging experimenter's kit" for
 $79. They note that with a 5 v power supply it's TTL
compatible, measuring from 1.2" to 35' (but they don't
 give an error range).

Having never built any of these (or other Circuit Cellar
kits), I wonder if anyone is familiar with them. How is
the quality of the kit? How fast is shipping? The do
promise that "you get a level of technical support unsurpassed
 in the industry."

Please either respond directly or post here.

 THANKS!
