I am looking for some SRAM for a memeory cache for our 386 machines, and I don't want to by them from the outfit that sold us the machines originally. All the manual says is that we need 8k x 8, 25ns for our 25 MHz 386 machine, and faster (i seem to remember 20ns) for our 33 MHz machine. The chip supply people I've talked to seem to need to know a exact number for the chip, and manufacturer. Is this true, or is the above info usually enough. Also the sockets are 28 pins. Am I asking the wrong questions, or do I need to know the exact chips I desire? I'm kind of new to the pc world, so I'd appreciate any info.
