[sci.electronics] Help needed using boom box as amp

shirriff@sprite.berkeley.edu (Ken Shirriff) (11/04/90)

I want to use my boom box as an amplifier (i.e. I want to add an
external input). I've figured out where in the internals of the
boom box to put the signal, but I don't know what to do for
impedance matching. The source (drum machine) has 1/4'' line
outputs and headphone output. I presume I need to put a resistor
across the source and then couple it with two capacitors to ground
and the boom box guts. Can anyone tell me if this will work, and
if so what values to use?
