Thanks for all the ideas on generating a ring signal. I tried (in this order): a (motor-type) static vibrator 555 -> DPDT relay 555 -> 2 Power Transistors Amazingly, all of these worked - even drove two phones with no problems. HaHa not yet tested on mechanical phones. (I don't have any handy.) I settled on the solid state solution for obvious (well, ifor those of you who have heard a static vibrator) reasons. I just hacked it up as I went along - I've never even used a discrete transistor before. Well, it was fun. Now I'm trying to get more of the system done (DTMF recv. & phone line routing).
