I'm posting this for my neighbour; A friend of his brought a Sharp DX677 CD player back from canada and wanted to get a 240v -> 120v transformer to power it through. In the meantime, he tried running it through an autotransformer. This worked for about 20 mins then it went BANG!! The CD player's transformer primary went o/c. Of course, all the likely sources for parts over here do not stock 120v transformers and without a working original there is no way of telling what current rating a new (240v) transformer should have. If any kind soul out there has one of these, and is willing to measure the current & voltage that the transformer supplies then my neighbour will be eternally grateful (and I will be able to borrow his lawn mower :^) Thanks in advance, Trev.. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Trevor Peacock, | Tel : 071 589 5111 X 5052 | JANET : tmp@uk.ac.ic.doc Department of Computing, | DARPA : tmp@doc.ic.ac.uk Imperial College, \ or tmp%uk.ac.ic.doc@nsfnet-relay.ac.uk 180 Queens Gate,London SW7 2BZ | UUCP : tmp@icdoc.UUCP or ..!ukc!icdoc!tmp
