-I recently discovered the Syvania "Capsylite" line of quartz/halogen bulbs.
-These are interesting products because they are interchangeable with standard
-incandescants, but are appreciably more efficient, longer lived, and
-(I believe) have better color. Because they use a double shell of glass,
-they are also insensitive to finger oils, and do not present the same risk of
-burns when at operating temperature. As a drop in replacement for incandescant,
-these bulbs are very nice indeed:

-floods and spots (52 and 72 Watts I think). The ones I purchased cost
-almost $4.00 each, so they are not cheap, but I have been very happy
-with them so far. No data at the moment on the 3500 hour lifetimes.

I have been using the same type of halogen bulbs, but from a different
manufacturer for months, they're great! They produce a brilliant white
light & screw right into ordinary light sockets. I have never had one
burn out, so I too am unable to comment about the lifetime of the bulbs.
I have catalogs available if anyone is interested where you can purchase
these light bulbs plus about 700 other household products using an 800
toll free number. The bulbs cost 14.99 + tax & ship for a box of 4 bulbs.
If you would like a catalog, send me e-mail with your name & address and
provided I don't get a million requests, I should be able to send out a
catalog to anyone who is interested. Sorry, U.S. residents only... :-(
