I'm in the process to purchase a 386 machine (33 MHZ, 200 M hard disk) which will be running UNIX. I want to have an uninterruptible power system to go along with the 386. Such a UPS will have interface to 386 so that 386 can orderly shut down in the case of power failure if running unattended. The built-in power supply for the 386 is 200 W and I'm thinking of at least 450W of UPS output. I have checked out a few stores. Here is what I have found: TrippLite BC450LAN ~$350 (450 W) TrippLite BC750LAN ~$450 (750 W) TrippLite OMINI450LAN ~$380 (450 W) American Power Conversion 600LS ~$520 (600 W) I'll appreciate it if netters can pass along their experiences regarding these brands or others.
