I am desperately looking for a Fairchild 3817DPC. It is a 40 pin PMOS IC with alarm, sleep timer and 4x7 segment LED driver builtin. Basically, it is a clock radio, minus the radio. It has been obselete for at least 10 years. My broken one has a 1975 datecode on it. The last databook that I found it in was the 1975 issue of Fairchild MOS Integrated Circuits in the Consumer/Industrial section. I have had no luck tracking one down from local suppliers. (Surprise, surprise.) Is there anyone from National/Fairchild who knows anything about this IC? Might there be one sitting on a shelf somewhere? National has no outlet here so I have been unable to determine if any still exist. Has the chip been superceded by another part? It seems to provide all the functionality required for typical clock radio, so something like it must be available. As the clock has sentimental value, I am willing to pay any reasonable price for one, even if it is used. I will probably even grudgingly pay an unreasonable price. (BTW, what is a reasonable price for such a relic?) If you know anything about this IC, or know anyone who might, please, please let me know.
