My 4 years old Sony TV has a strange problem. The problem is that sometimes it turns off by itself. Once it turns off by itself, I can't turn it on again for a while. I heard that this is a very common problem among Sony TVs, and I remember that many people discussed this subject about 2 months ago. Did anyone save the related articles? Any advice or comment to solve this strange problem will be appreciated. Thanks Tony Yoon

I had the same problem. It turned out to be a blown electrolytic in an
inverter supply. It is in a shielded case for RFI reasons. If this has
blown in your case, you may want to replace it with one with a higher
voltage rating, although tere is not a lot of room in the box.

I discarded and (of course) now need the name of the defective component that causes Sony TVs to turn themselves off. If some kind person would email the answer I would appreciate it. Also, can someone tell me if this group is archived somewhere? If so, I won't bother people with subjects already well discussed.
