I am looking for suggestions on texts for learning about the function of VCR's. Our VCR recently went out (5 years old, so I bought a new one), and the shop wanted $140 to replace the 'servo amplitude circuit'. I'd like to understand what this circuit does in the overall context of VCR operation. Can anyone recommend a VCR text? I am an EE and could handle a pretty technical document (I'd even relish it.). BTW, do 'servo amplitude circuits' go out often? The symptom is an inability to adjust tracing sufficiently to get rid of the "snow band". Thanks in advance Jim Novak novak@cs.sandia.gov
