[sci.electronics] Touchy RE Descrambler

wm1a+@andrew.cmu.edu (William Russell Matson) (01/31/91)

Sometime in December someone was debugging a RE Universal Descrambler
and had problems getting it to lock up because of problems in the design
of the circuitry around the PLL chip. Could whoever posted this message
send me the mods that were suggested, they have already been purged off
of our bboards here...

Actually, if there are some hot mods for this thing floating around, it
might be useful to just post them as a lot of persons, including
myself, have built this thing and are playing with it.

Mine has always locked up fine on whatever signal, but I'm not happy
with the lack of DC restoration in this marginal design. When I get
the time, I want to mess with the thing some more.
