[sci.electronics] What is an 8211 chip on PC parallel card

jgd@Dixie.Com (John G. DeArmond) (02/05/91)

I'm trying to find some information on the 82C11 LSI chip on some PC parallel
port adaptors. Specifically, this chip appears on a Magitronics standalone
parallel port and on an MGP Herc mono adaptor.

I need the following:

	Where to get the chip.
Who makes the chip (one has a logo containing the letters SIS)
	Programming information.

My old IC Master Index lists National Semiconductor as a vendor (DM8211) but
my National databook library does not seem to contain the chip.

I've poked around on this chip enough with DEBUG to determine that it is not
like the standard IBM printer adaptor. I need to work with this chip on a
machine minus the BIOS so I need register and other information. And leads
greatly appreciated. Please E-mail as well as posting. Our news system
currently has spring fever.

Thanks,
John
