[sci.electronics] dc hv power supply

cshort@nmsu.edu (Spmg*d, Lord of Potted Meat Product) (02/07/91)

hi, i am involved in some video work that involves lots of people
dressed cyberpunk running around in the desert with flourescent
tubes.

since this is the desert and we don't have any 40 mile extension cords,
we need a way to power these from dc

any ideas?

i was thinking 12 volts through a 555 to a car coil.

will this work, is there a better way, and does anyone
have any schematics that would help me out.

thanks

chris

how about taking apart one of those battery-powered flourscent
camping lanterns and seeing what's inside it??
