Try to find the Sept. - Oct. 1988 issue of Micro Cornucopia (#43). It has an article called "Delving Into The Black Arts: Build A PC Adapter Card In An Hour, Or So", and they mean it! I have used the information in this article to build several XT cards which have worked great. The article was written by Bruce Eckel, who sells a book of his interface designs with a disk of the required software. Your local college library should have back issues. If you can't find back issues locally (unfortunately, it's out of print), you can try to contact Mr. Eckel directly at Eisys Consulting 1009 N. 36th Street Seattle, WA 98103 > Thanks in advance, > John You're Welcome, Dev Palmer wdp@dukee.egr.duke.edu Duke Electrical Engineering Room 309 Old Engineering Bldg. A few days after posting this message, I found what I needed in the mailbox. The February/March issue of Circuit Cellar Ink has a XT bus based project and their interface works fine. Thanks to everyone who answered my request. What type od pub. is Circuit Cellar? Does the artical include DTMF? if so could you send me a copy of it? The technical level of most of the construction articles is somewhere between Radio Electronics Magazine and a BSEE. They are at (215)630-1914. The article in question, Feb/Mar issue 19, pg.22, 'A PC Stopwatch', details a software controlled stopwatch which one could use to measure run times of program segments as well as other things I suppose. I just took the left half of their schematic ( the bus interface/address decode section ) and spliced my DTMF decoder to it. Now that I look at it, the interface is pretty simple, I'd just never 'hacked' one before. The board ran all weekend time/date stamping DTMF transmissions over the local police channels and worked well. ( NO the goal is not to record numbers dialed on cordless phones, though the board will work well in that application, this is a telemetry project).
