There seems to be a real interest in light bulbs (and light bulb jokes, but I won't get into that :-) on USENET for some reason so let me help feed the demand. It was mentioned a while ago that GE had developed a more efficient QH by using IR reflecting coatings. I just saw somewhere in one of my magazines that GE is now selling this product but only to industrial users. If things go well they will probably go consumer in a year or two. I decided to go to the horse's mouth and called the GE Lighting Center (216 266 2121). They said they would sell the QH-IR to anybody, but they are still in the process of ramping up production. They'll send me data, but what I found out is that they have a 60 W PAR-38 which is equivalent to a 150 W. They're also looking at a 100 W and a PAR-30 but they don't seem to have any PAR-20s yet. I asked if they'd be doing LVH IR like an MR-16 type and he said they would certainly look at other applications for their patented IR technology. He also gave me the number of their office in Oakland, CA so I could find out where to buy QH-IR. (415 436 9450). --
