[sci.electronics] PE 7500 data format needed

rrw@naucse.cse.nau.edu (Robert Wier) (02/19/91)

I'm posting this for a friend in the Physics department here...

They have a Perkins Elmer (sp?) x-ray spectrometer, model 7500
which writes data to a 5 inch floppy. They'd like to be
able to read/write these on an MSDOS clone as well. The data
format is in very short supply, except that we cant read the
disks it produces with MSDOS for IBM, MSDOS for Rainbows, or CPM for
Rainbows. They think it might be formatted with 8 sectors (?).

I'd appreciate any suggestions on how we might approach this -
either with software on a PC (I'm not an MSDOS expert on non-
standard formats), or possibly by turning up a comm program
like Kermit (sorry - I have no idea what kind of processor is
in it - or what if any communications facilities it might have
as far as rs232 ports are concerned). I'm just kind of taking a
shot in the (X-Ray :-) dark that someone might have some information
 on this -

 Thanks

 - Bob Wier
