[sci.electronics] Electric guitar effects pedals

  For my OAC (final year of high school) electronics project I am planning 
on building an effects box for an electric guitar. The box will allow 
various effects, such as distortion and chorus, to be added to an input 
signal and then sent to an amplifier.
 
  I am interested in learning of the basic building blocks of these circuits 
so that I may design and construct my own effects. Any help in this area 
would be greatly appreciated and you will receive due recognition in my 
report.
