Does any one know of a source book with information on the 8870 filter/decoder chip ??? Mark. PS :also looking for info on the 7910 Modem chip !!

The 8870 is a Touch Tone (tm) decoder chip, made by Mitel,
Teltone, SSI, and others. It is not a DTMF transciever (that is, it only
receives and decodes DTMF, not generate them). The 8880 is a
DTMF transciever.
Teltone is at 800-426-3926 or 206-827-9626. If you have difficulty
getting through, I can send you a photocopy of the spec sheet
