There are a lot of products out now advertising ``Dolby Surround'', ``Surround Sound'', or ``Dolby Pro-Logic Surround'' as well as a growing number of videotapes with surround sound. Can anyone point me to references that discuss how this encoding is accomplished, and maybe to a circuit to decode such a signal? I'm not sure I believe it's as realistic as the rec.audio folks seem to think, but it might be interesting to see... I am looking for a surround sound converter. I would like to be able to listen to movies and such in surround sound thru my receiver. My VCR is only mono and I am wondering if I can hook some kind of surround decoder to my cable box and then have it output surround to go to the receiver. If you know of any place that sells these please leave me e-mail (as I usually don't read this group). Thanks... Dave Downin downin@dtoa1.dt.navy.mil
