[sci.electronics] Invisible Fence

Has anyone seen any 'non-commercial', do-it-yourself, schematics for the equiv.
of the Invisible Fence product?

This product fits on your dog's collar and 'attempts' to keep him in the yard
by warning tones and electric shock. Invisible Fence got their product
certified by the humane society but they charge an arm and a leg for it. Low
end system is about $750. This includes 1 collar, a xmitter, and enough wire
to go around about an acre.

Any leads would be appreciated. Thanx, in advance...

Just for the record, the commercial version of the Invisible Fence,
though undeniably pricey ($700 for a basic installation was about what
we paid), does work _very_ well.

That is, if you do the initial training right, and have a good
relationship with your dog, the dog will learn to respect the fence
very quickly; the training will last a long time; and you'll be happy
with the results. We've had 5 or 6 dogs on our system at different
times and are very happy with it.

A knowledgable electroniker could certainly duplicate the system on a
homebrew basis for _much_ less than the commercial price, however...
