I have just 'stumbled' upon this chip, LS-7210 Radio shack has been selling it, and is closing it out. I called the original MFG, and they said they have been in business since 1968, and every component they ever came out with is still in production and available from stock. This chip has a internal clock (selectable speed with a resistor/cap pair) or a external clock input. 4 different timer/delay modes of operation and 5 bit digital input delay/timer operation for both on and off states. Providing timer functions from like 2 mS to 30 days. All using about 3 external components..... ---End of Advertisement--- I have tried several of the 'demo' circuits included on the radio shack data sheet, but can't get the chip really 'run'. The problem is no doubt a stupid mistake on the data sheet but there are many possible stupid things to look at. IF anyone has used this chip successfully and could pass on either radio shacks stupid mistake, or a couple hints, please either post or send email, thanks (I doubt if the chip is defective, as I got several, and I suspect that it is a functional design, as the company application engineer I spoke to highly regarded the chip....) al -- Al.
