[sci.electronics] magnetic antennas for HF

alewis@gmuvax2.gmu.edu (alewis) (03/15/91)

Hi,
I am looking for pointers to companies selling magnetic antennas for
HF (loop or loop-stick.) Automatic tuning would be preferable but is
not necessary. The only place I could think of was Palamar Engineering,
and they are closed for a vacation. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I suppose you could buy them, but why not build them? A loop antenna is
just a coil, and a stick antenna is a coil wound over a ferrite rod.
Ferrite rods can be obtained from Amidon (among others).

I never understand why people BUY wire antennas...
